Increase in the price of paper in Turkey
With Turkey’s annual inflation rate reaching 55%, representatives of the paper industry announced that the increase in the price of paper in Turkey has increased by more than 100% compared to the previous year. In addition, it is reported that the increase in costs is also affecting the recycling sector.
Although good business has been achieved in the export sector, production costs in the local market have increased significantly, says the head of the Istanbul Paper and Forest Products Exporters Association, Ahmet Gülç. Today, paper is used in many fields, from consumer durables to packaging, and from the printing industry to commerce. The import of Turkish paste alone has been more than one billion dollars. The total import, including ready-made paper, was 3.2 billion dollars.
There are also problems in countries like Russia from where we import paper and cellulose. In the domestic arena, we ask our government to provide incentives for paper manufacturing companies. Turkey has a very rich forest cover. But there is no investor. All we need is for investors to come out and take a chance to invest in the paper industry.
